Indexation and structure
- Search
site:yourdomain.com. Roughly the page count you expect? Far fewer means indexation problems. - Does your homepage exist at two URLs? Try the root and
/home/. Two live versions split your signals — very common on template builds. - One H1 per page? Page builders often output several.
- Unique titles per page? Templated titles mean every page competes with itself.
- A page per service you sell? And per city you serve? See the keyword map.
- Do your storm pages already exist? If your season is within six months and they do not, that is this year gone — check the storm calendar.
Speed and mobile
- Run PageSpeed Insights on mobile, not desktop. It reports Core Web Vitals against Google's own thresholds rather than a third-party score.
- Check hero video and sliders. Usually the heaviest things on a contractor site.
- Load the site on a phone on cellular. Someone standing in their driveway looking at a damaged roof is not on office wifi.
- Is the phone number tappable and visible without scrolling?
Local and trust signals
- Does your NAP match everywhere? Site footer, Google Business Profile, manufacturer certification directories, other listings. Character for character.
- Address in the footer as text, not baked into an image.
- Are your certifications named and current on the site?
- Is LocalBusiness or RoofingContractor schema present? Test with the Rich Results Test, and check your markup against Google's local business structured data documentation — the required and recommended properties are listed there rather than left to guesswork.
Content and conversion
- Is the photography yours? Reverse image search your hero. If it is on fifty other sites, it is stock.
- Any insurance claim content at all? Most contractor sites have none — see the claim vocabulary.
- Are reviews visible on the site, not only on Google?
- Is there a clear emergency path? Storm traffic converts on urgency, and a contact form is not urgency.
Measurement
- Is call tracking installed? Without it you cannot attribute a single lead to a page and nothing above is measurable.
- Search Console verified, and do you own the property rather than an agency?
If you only fix three
